Trimming Down My Trash

I recently found these on sale in my local Target. They came wrapped together in one complete set and I snapped them up because there are so many ways they can be used in the classroom. They wash up easily and I don’t have to worry about how much I’m throwing away. Plus I love how there are 4 in each set (perfect for student teams).

The variety of pieces means I can use them for:

• food prep and snacktivities
• sorting manipulatives for math lessons
• sorting letter tiles for word-building lessons
• science experiments
• arts and crafts supplies
• collecting scraps during project work

The other day, I used the divided trays during an art activity. The slick surface made the paint easy to mix and super easy to rinse off. A little time air-drying and … done. Nothing to throw away.

I’m not sure if this exact set is still available, but I’ve seen many similar pieces at dollar stores and other discount retailers. As I look for ways to cut down on waste, these hit the mark.

Happy teaching!
